The song is derived from the words LET IT BE that Paul McCartney's bereaved mother delivered at her bedside.

Paul also said that "VIRGIN MARY," which also appears in the song, means mother, and he combined the expression with John Lennon's art "LISTEN TO THIS" to express Lennon McCartney, who is used in the credits when they produced songs together, on the clothes.

The prints are based on silk print images from the late 1960s through 1970.

The items were created to be used alongside the "LISTEN TO THIS" series, which John was developing artistically at the time.
