This piece is a reimagined version inspired by the so-called "Viet-Jacket," ordered as souvenirs by U.S. soldiers deployed to the Vietnam War from the late 1960s to early 1970s. The Viet-Jacket was not officially issued by the U.S. military; it was made locally by tailors as personal items. The embroidery on these jackets carries memories of units, places, and the emotions of that time. Rather than being worn in combat, they were typically worn during off-duty hours on base, when going out, or upon returning home. After their practical use ended, they became cherished as symbols of defiance. BOW WOW, drawing on this history, elevates the product by adding the expression of aged patina characteristic of a well-worn souvenir jacket imbued with culture and emotion.
